We’re inviting expressions of interest from Instructional Designers who’d like to work with Matrix on a project‑by‑project contract basis. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy flexible, remote work and collaborating closely with project teams, clients, and subject matter experts to turn complex information into learning that genuinely supports people and organisations. You’ll work on meaningful projects, with flexible arrangements and a collaborative team that values quality, clarity, and respect.

Matrix works alongside not‑for‑profit and community‑based organisations to design learning that’s practical, engaging, inclusive, and grounded in real‑world experience. As our work continues to grow, we’re expanding our pool of Instructional Designers to support current and upcoming projects from 2026 through to late 2027 (depending on project scope and funding).

How the contract works

  • Flexible, project‑based contractor engagements

  • Remote work from anywhere in Australia

  • Hourly rates negotiated based on experience and project scope

  • Fixed hours per project or task

  • Monthly invoicing with 14‑day payment terms

  • Contractors will need an ABN

Some projects may require background checks, such as a National Criminal History Record Check and/or Working With Children clearance.
